Introduction
Ceramics are heat-resistant, nonmetallic, and inorganic solids. Although it is corrosion-resistant and quite hard, it is still brittle. Ceramics are great insulators and can withstand high temperatures. It is typically bacteria resistant but does not bode well in medical environments where grout could harbor bacteria. It has a sonorous quality that can impact acoustics within a space. Ceramics are categorized into structural ceramics, refractory products, whitewares, and technical ceramics.
