General Information

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. It has desirable acoustic properties and is also quite malleable. Other properties of brass include corrosion resistance and easy to cast.

Brass is either golden yellow, reddish gold, or silver. The metal has a very low melting point. The properties of brass can also changed depending on the ratios of copper and zinc used, making hard or soft brass achievable.

This alloy is used to make many musical instruments, such as the trumpet and French horn, due to its impressive acoustic accommodations and sounds. It is also a non-ferrous metal meaning it isn't magnetic.

Environmental Impact

The characteristics of brass make it a tough metal, meaning it is a very sustainable material. Brass is also 100% recyclable, which contributes to an environmentally conscious industry

The recycling process for brass is less energy-insensitive, meaning that it results in a smaller carbon footprint in the industrial and design realm.

Use in Interior Setting

Brass is commonly used for door handles, light fittings, and taps. Lately, brass has made a heavier appearance in interior aesthetics - and can be seen in wall coverings and even tile trim.

Since brass has a low melting point, it is easier for manufacturers to shape brass into design elements and décor.

Brass also comes in a variety of finishes such as satin brass, antique brass, polished brass, etc. Different finishes applied to brass create unique looks that create a versatile design element.

Plumbing, Valve, & Electrical Sockets

As mentioned previously, brass can come in a variety of finishes for either aesthetics, durability and wear, or both.

Due to its corrosion resistant, brass is a heavily reliable material for plumbing, valve, and electrical socket applications.
